“Show me your employees and I’ll tell you how successful your company will be”

For every project Bambuco employs a group of aerial construction workers and some support staff.
It’s the aerial crew members that are in effect the stars of the Bambuco show.
When you have a look at the crew, you’ll notice that they have one thing in common: they are all climbers.
Some make a living as climbing guides, some as high access workers, all of them are very experienced.
So, why do we hire mainly climbers?
Here are some of our reasons:

Safety
As you can imagine safety is paramount. To experienced climbers this is second nature. It means that we can rely on our crew to be safe. (Of course we have our procedures, but in the end crew members carry their own responsibilities)

Speed and Efficiency
Building for Bambuco is not much different from climbing a big wall. To make it to the top you have to be organised and fast. To construct a large bamboo installation within the usual time constraints requires the same skills.

Endurance
Climbers tend to be tough and fit. The usually rigorous Bambuco working routine doesn’t bother them. (Festival organisers are perplexed that on our days off we often go climbing.)
 
 

There is one drawback in employing climbers; they are often a transient tribe.
Half of last years crew might be on an expedition. Or disappear for months,  just off climbing somewhere.
For that reason we would like to extend our pool of potential crew members.
We pay well, work hard, travel a lot and have a bloody good time.

By the way, gender doesn’t matter. On both previous constructions of ARCH, our key aerial coordinators have been female.
Nationality isn’t relevant either. As long as you speak English. So far we have employed: Australians, Philippinos, Brits, Germans and Dutch.
