THE MEDIA

‘One stone. Two birds…maybe three.’

Contracting Bambuco (the ‘one stone’) buys the festival a spectacular installation performance (the first bird). It also assures the organiser of valuable media exposure (the ‘second bird’).

We don’t like to brag, but we have to point out: Bambuco is a surefire winner with the media.
It’s the implausible scale of our projects. And our spectacular and unusual construction methods.
The result is, that every large project has appeared on the prime time news editions on the local commercial networks.
Furthermore, photos of the project always appear in the daily newspapers.

By the way, all the media attention is sometimes a bit distracting. So, during the project Bambuco employs a full time media liaison.

Now, what about the third bird?
Well, our proven media success might just make the attraction of corporate sponsors for your festival, just that little easier.

THE AUDIENCE

“Daddy, what’s that girl doing up there?”

Wherever we build we attract a crowd.
Interested fellow artist, lunch time viewers. Tradesmen and engineers, often with a habitual indifference towards the arts. It’s surprising that they turn out to be some of our most captive audience. (In ’99 Theatre Der Welt had the inspirational idea, to invite all local scaffolders to our site.)
And there are children. (“Daddy, what’s that girl doing up there?”  “I don’t know darling. Let’s ask.”)

Without the exception, every spectator wants to ask questions.
Questions about the structure, the festival or the materials. How much does it cost?
Who pays for it? Questions about us. And of course the big question: Why?

However spectacular a project, we feel success lies in answering all those questions. To do this, we use information stands. Every Bambuco building site has one. (These stands can double as festival info points.)
Here we try to answer all questions. Yes, trying is all we can do.
Because we’ve found that one child can ask more questions than we are able to answer.
