Cyrk is an evolving constructed universe made from bamboo. The work was initially developed from a structure commissioned by Jillian Pearce of Y Space and built by Simon Barley called Theatre. The structure is around 45m in length and 16m tall.
Y Space, in collaboration with animation company Transience and Bambuco, first toured the work to the Balmoral Arts Festival in 2006 as Cyrk I. In 2007 a season opened at Arts House in Melbourne, which saw the structure re-adapted to fit the Culture Lab space as Cyrk II. Further development of the work, under the name Styckx, is ongoing.
